DS 2.5 years fell down a step and now won't walk on right foot, could he have broken it?

DS seems to have hurt his right foot when he fell down the last step of the stairs earlier. We were going out and we didn't realise he couldn't stand on it until he got out the car at the other end. Saying that, he did stand on it a few times OK but wanted us to carry him (not that unusual as he likes to be carried anyway).

I felt his foot and squeezed all the bones and all over the foot a bit to see if he was in pain but he doesn't seem to be. It's not swollen or red or bruised. He seems 100% fine other than being reluctant to stand on it.

Just googled foot injuries though and I'm not sure whether to take him to A&E in the morning in case it's a tiny fracture? Or if he has broken it, would it not be sore when I touched it?

It normally hurts like hell if you press on it, there's normally swelling, aswell as a reluctance to use the affected limb. Is he able to move it in all directions when he's sitting down?

unlikely but possible. If he's comfortable enough to sleep tonight, I'd try to get him to the GP in the morning - they can refer him for an x-ray if it's needed.

He wouldn't be standing on it if anything was broken to be honest, this being said, I don't have x-ray telepathic eyes. I'd probably leave it until tomorrow and see how it goes, leaving a chocolate on the other side of the room so he has to go and get it himself is a good tell tale sign of everything being OK It might still be sore if he's pulled something though.

Yes he sat and watched some TV before bed and writhed about as usual, I watched his foot and he was moving it around and wasn't reluctant to let it press against the sofa etc.

He also put all his weight on that foot when he climbed into bed and didn't complain. DH has broken his foot before and passed out with the pain and couldn't walk on it so I'm thinking DS's foot is OK? (I hope!)

Our DS could stand up on a broken leg, so if it hurts in morning go to A&E.

OK I'll check his foot later tonight and see how he is in the morning...
