Hi all, need help with symptoms, DD had high temp last 2 nights, chesty and snuffly with cough and cold and now today come out in spots over chest, arms and bum, less so on back. Doesnt look like heat rash...ideas anyone? They don't seem to be itchy.

Thanks all

Could just be some kind of virus, dd2 often gets rashes when she has had a high temp. What do the spots look like? Has she got a soar throat?, the reason i ask is dd2 last year had scarlet fever, she had cold symptoms, was sick and eventually came out in a rash.

Sounds like chicken pox, tis rife at the moment. What do the spots look like?

Honeymoonmummy · 16/06/2010 21:02

It's more like spots than a rash. I did think chicken pox but they don't look angry (yet) and she doesn't seem itchy.

Looked at photos of scarlet fever and measles and it doesn't look like either of them. They are just pimples really, few and far between at the moment, probably about 20 on her front. They don't have a white head, they're just red. Her temp is fine, I've just checked it.

chicken pox, exactly what happened to my 4. Get piriton from the doctor and get set for a few days of snuggling on the sofa (making up for being up all night).

Cold comfort, but at least you won't need to worry in future about her getting = and it's so much worse as they get older

They blister after a couple of days, look like mosi bites the first few days. Highly infrctious to others from the day before the first spot appeared, to the day after the last one scabs over - check her hair, they took the longest to scab over with my LOs

SKYTVADDICT · 16/06/2010 21:08

Definitely sounds like it could chicken pox. If it is, some of them will fill with fluid over the next few hours/days, burst then scab. They don't start off angry just usually flat and pinky/red.

DC4 just had it and it took his spots 7 days to stop coming out and another 7 for them all to be scabbed.

Thanks guys. Poo. I'm supposed to be travelling to London for an overnight stay tomorrow. I seem to be catching her symptoms (cold and sore throat) - I've had chicken pox as a child though... should I cancel my trip? It's a big conference so likely to be some pregnant women there.
