Mosquito bites or not??? Urgent or not??

Hi,

Got DD (4 months) up this morning and her left lower arm was VERY RED with a purple edge. When I pressed it white spots appeared which seem to be mosquito bites? Do I need to worry if babies have mosquito bites???

She does not scratch it, does not seem to itch her. Or is it somehting else?

Shall I go to GP or am I exagerrating???

Her second lower arm also seems to get red now.

She wore long sleeves to sleep.

Thank you very much for any replies.

Hi Jaabaar,

Not sure it sounds like mozzies from your description, at only 4 mths I'd get it checked out by your GP, or you could take dd into a pharmacy and have the pharmacist take a look in the first instance.

Whether to go to the GP depends on whether you live in a country with malaria or dengue or JE. TBH, they don't sound like mosquito bites to me and it is unlikely that a mozzie could get through or up long sleeves. If they aren't bothering your dd at all, I would leave it TBH. (I must say they sound like bedbug bites to me)

I was also thinking of bedbugs but since I wash the sleeping bag twice a week and change the sheet once a week is this still possible?

It seems to get better now. But the white spots on the red skin are still there.

Kreech: No malaria, live in the uk.

I had made an app wiht GP for this morning but I think I should cancel now.

I would still go to the GP if the appt has been made, you've got nothing to lose. I know nothing of the life cycle of a bed bug but my friends dd had losts of bits on the back of her legs due to them.

Hi Kreecher,

(I remember you from the other threat about pushy friend!)

I really dont want to waste GPs time if it is not very serious. I think I will wait for half an hour more and see how it looks like.

Thank you all for the support. I really do appreciate.

I always think advise from other mothers is the most valuable!
