he was on the loo doing a number 2 and he said 'mummy my willy has gone all funny' i just thought he had a stiffy so i went in to clean him up and got totally freaked out
it was purple - he had rolled his foreskin right back as far as it would go and it looked like it was inside out ,i tried to pull the skin down and it was stuck - i panicked but he fiddled with it and it went down - thankgod ,he said it didnt hurt .
he is only 3 - 4 in a few months surely boys his age shouldnt be able to pull it that far back.
and if he does it again and it wont go down what should i do?

Before it happens again, get your GP to check whether his foreskin is too tight. He may need circumcising if so.
If it already retracts fully, you might want to think about getting him into the habit of pulling it back to wash while he's in the bath.
My ds had the opposite problem at 7 but we were told it would 'unstick' in time. It did

my older ds is 12 and he has tight foreskin and has a job to pull it back and has had a few infections under his foreskin so was a bit of a shock !!
dh is taking ds to gp today for anoither matter so will get him to ask her to check it out

I would be very careful regarding pulling the foreskin back in such a young child. If it gets stuck and wont go back - the end of the penis swells making it even tighter the more you try! It is a surgical emergency, go to A&E immediately as the tight foreskin cuts off the blood supply to the end of the penis and can cause necrosis (dead tissue) OMG honestly. It happens to older men too. Dont encourage him to retract it until it loosens up considerably more which it will when he gets older.

The end was purple because it was engorged and the blood pooling in the end so it was already on the way to what I've described above
