WWYD?

DD4 (20m) has had diarrhoea now since Tuesday afternoon. Lots of little accidents - about one every one or two hours . She is 100% fine in herself but is weeing less, unsurprisingly.

NHS Direct say if she's had it for more than 24 to call them. They also say (you know how you go and change the answers to try and make a decision!) that if she's weeing less, to take her to A&E!!!!

I also have three other children at home - A&E seems to be a bit of an overreaction, bearing in mind she's ok otherwise. But I am concerned that she could begin to get weak now, after so long. She's very small for her age too.

So WWYD? An emergency GP appt. with a sample is what I'm thinking, but I just want to know if anyone else would follow the A&E advice?

Sorry, should make it clear the advice is only from NHS Direct Online - not a phone call. Can't be bothered with phoning them!

I would get an emergency GP appointment this morning. Your baby will probably be prescribed rehydration sachets. You don't normally need to take in a sample, unless it doesn't clear up as expected.
Hope she gets better soon.

Thanks - will ditch my little pot of this morning's poo then!

NHS direct always seem to say rush to A&E as a precaution. I'd just go along to normal gp (emergency) appt, if you have a suitable container, it wouldn't hurt to take a sample gp might or might not want to use it, but got nothing to loose. Hope she gets well soon. Poorly baby no fun for either of you.
