Vitamin drops

Recently I read the weaning leaflet from the NHS and it states that you should now start vitamin drops. I didn't know about this so called the HV. The had also read this but said that they have not been instructed to suggest you use them.

Anyone else had a different answer from a HV?

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I asked about this and was told it is standard NHS guidelines to encompass all but that if your baby has a good diet you don't really need them. Studies are divided on vitamin supplements and their value. You might give your child a multivitamin or take them whilst pregnant if you were worried you weren't getting them in food and this is basically the same advice in the leaflet.

I think certain groups get the drops for free which is why they mention them in the leaflet.

Thankyou. That makes sense.
