dd keeps being sick, can't keep water down. What to do in this heat?

dd is nearly 3.

She began being sick at midnight last night, and was sick at least once every half hour until 7am. She slept til 8.30 then asked for water, so I only allowed her a little sip, but she promptly vomitted it all up and has been sick twice since.

dh spoke to the pharmacist who said as long as she is asking for water, she is ok, even if she can't keep it down. Is this right?

I'm worried she needs fluids in this heat.

Thanks for your thoughts. Well, I thought things were improving as she managed to keep down a cup of juice, taken in small sips through the night and this this morning, and through her drowsiness took another half a cup and 2 teaspoons of jelly

But come 9.30 am she began to refuse even the syringe and wouldn't take any liquids. Dh began to panic because when he managed to rouse her she was disorientated and very confused, so he called the dr himself (bit of a turnaround from last night!) I was pretty sure doc would say she was ok though as she has taken on liquid since last night as is no longer being sick.

But it was back to the drs for a third time on dh's insistance, and as soon as we got there she woke up and was her most alert in the last 36 hours! (Although, by alert I mean no eye contact, no speech, rag-doll like body... ) This time they took a urine sample and concluded that she is dehydrated- No S* Sherlock! They have sent me home with instructions to give her 5ml of juice every 5 mins through a syringe and take her back at 5.40pm to see another dr who will tell me all is ok...

The good news is they have obviously ruled out meningitis, and said she only has a virus so no anti bios needed and she is alert enough that she doesn't need to go to hospital. Guess it's just a waiting game!

That's good news cupof, thanks for updating.
Sounds like she's doing a lot better if she can keep down juice. Just out of interest, how it is easier for them to keep it down with a syringe rather than cup? Just because the amount is so much smaller?

Hurray no meningitis, which is very scary.

Hope she'll be able to keep down the fluids today and recover.
