Thats it really.

Think DS1 has got the pox lots of spots appearing fairly rapidly over his torso and groin area. Not blistering yet. He has been off his food and really snotty for a week.

Best known treatments please.

Oh DH informs me he has a blistered one on his testicles.

Its his 3rd b-day party next Sat guess we will be cancelling that.

Bicarb in the bath works well as does Tea tree cream. Piriton works well to ease the itching too.

Poxclyn mousse on the spots with Piriton for itching.

Top up with Calpol/Nurofen for general poorliness.

Bicarb in the bath.

Calamine aqueous cream - doesn't dry the spots out in the same way as calamine lotion and is meant to be more comfortable

Boots do a calamine and glycerine ointment which is very quick and easy to apply.

Thanks everyone, have given him piriton and covered him in aveeno.

Will see what its like by the morning.

We have been using a gel called ViraSooothe (from Boots) for our DD - seems to work really well. She has also had oat and bicarb baths! It's such a horrible illness!

ProfessorLaytonIsMyLoveSlave · 24/05/2010 14:54

Bicarb in the bath, plus whichever gel he seems to prefer (DD liked Poxclin, DS was keener on gel-type things). If you don't give Piriton during the day you can give a double dose at night to help with sleep.

There's every chance that he'll be absolutely fine (and not infectious) for his party.

JamInMyWellies · 24/05/2010 15:21

DH has been dispatched to Boots to stock up on various lotions and potions.

He seems to be fine but very spotty and is currently running round the garden soaking my washing with his water pistol.

We have postponed the party.
