Does this sound like pox?

DS1 had conjunctivitis which turned into bad cold then very high fever for two days. Yesterday he was slightly better but at bathtime had 3 spots on bum. This morning there are a few spots appearing just on legs that are just light red bumps. DS2 is now on the high fever bit....
If it is pox...give me a guess as to whether we can go on hols in 13 days time.

When my ds got chicken pox at 2 I thought he had a heat rash for the first 24 hours, then it started to blister. The spots started relatively small, well like a heat rash, and then developed. If it is, you should be fine by 13 days from now. They are no longer infectious when all the blisters have scabbed over, which I think only takes about a week to ten days from the blisters developing. Have you got some calamine lotion just in case?

If you mean chickenpox?.... Chickenpox blisters are quite distinctive from ordinary spots - white and raised in the centre, red around the outside. Usually, the younger the child, the quicker they start to feel better. The spots last a week or so and the child is less contagious once they start to dry up and crust over.

They often start on the chest and will slowly appear during the day, and become slightly bigger than heat rash.
NHS guidelines now state infectious for 5 days from the first appearance of the rash so fine by next weekend. You no longer have to wait until they crust over, I wasn't sure about this info but had to take a child In a creche after 5 days covered in spots but thats the guidelines now.
