Intermittent fever in 2yo - no other symptoms...

LO 2 yrs old has had a slight fever 38-39 over past 24 -36 hrs. It came down to 36.7 with nurofen/calpol but went back up this morning and has been up and down like this since the other evening.

He appears fine apart from the temperature and when it is up he is a bit clingy then he is running about like normal again a few minutes later. He is not complaining of any pain anywhere and I have tried to feel gently for any obviously swollen glands but can't tell.

He has never had a fever without any other symptoms before. What should I do?

I have read if fever is not away after 3 days then call GP but it is up and down and has not really been over 38 today but was 40 the other evening when this all started.

Thanks for any advice

My DD had this a couple of times. First time, I spoke to a doctor who said often if there is a temperature and no outward sign, it is a tummy bug and they will get diarrhoea eventually. Both times with DD, this turned out to be the case.

Thank you - it is good to hear from people in the same boat. He seems so not bothered by it apart from saying he is hot when it comes back on again...

Will look out for diarrhoea

I accidentally posted this twice since there was a problem with the server BTW... Sorry
