4 1/2 year old & hearing problems

Not really sure where I am going with this one, so bear with me.

My 4 1/2yr old is driving me up the wall with "not listening" or unable to hear.

If she is playing and not facing me, then she does not always hear me, or only half of what I say. Same with if I am in another room, even though I shout fairly loudly to get her attention, she doesnt bat an eyelid :s

She does have a cold at the mo, (but on its way out and she was like this before) so not sure if its that, or the fact she really cant hear and not being ignorant ... as my dh puts it!

Will mention to the school to see if there is a problem there, but should I take her to the docs? or leave it for a little bit longer?

You should go to the doctors and ask for a hearing test. Given her age, it will probably be at your local audiology department, it could be a cold and therefore glue ear, but best to get someone look at it properly as soon as possible. your GP should be able to give you a good idea if her ear isn't clear.
