Boil/Spot on 22 month old

My 22 month old has a humungous spot on the back of his upper arm. If it was on me, I'd squeeze it but obviously can't on him. Have put savlon on it but it's not made it any better. There's a very distinct yellow head and it's about 1.5cm in diameter with quite a bit of swelling underneath, and it's hot.

I'm taking him to docs tomorrow as he's obviously in a lot of pain but can anyone tell me what might cause this? Will doc lance it? Does it go away on it's own?

i'd just squeeze it!

does that make me a bad mummy??

Oh man, I would LOVE to squeeze it - I just know it'll pop really loudly. But it would hurt him and DH would be most displeased with me.

Are you sure it's a boil? Sounds a bit like molluscum.

Sorry- didn't see the 1.5cm diameter bit. Sounds a bit big for molluscum. Poor boy. Hope the doc can sort it.

Nah, DS2 just had molluscum clear up after a year. This is massive and ready to pop. I just wish I could burst it myself.

if it was me I would probably pop it too and yup my dh would go mad too (and very very bad mummy as it would probably hurt)! I am already a nightmare for picking her cradle cap!
