my DD1 6 years old, sits on the sofa scratching and picking at her sick until it bleeds then she will squeeze as much blood as she can. have asked her why she does it and she said that she loves it and it makes her happy. I took her to the doctors and asked if she had any signs of self harm they said no, she used to suffer from anxiety, but im really worried.

I used to do this when I was little.

Obviously may be different to your daughter but I just liked doing it... like little kids disecting frogs... I;m into gory stuff now.. I am not into self harm. Perhaps it is this?

Does she do other stuff with her body? Like 'operate on scabs', pluck her own hairs? investigate body parts?
Poor you, I'd never thought it might be worrying for my Mum

I will probably be sticking my head out here but I sm torn between recommending you contact your CAYMHT

I usedd to pic and pick at at scabs but it wasn't for attention. I self harmed at at pretty late age/ I think the two were connectected

The fact that she says bleeding made her happy suggests she may need help.

Is she happy otherwise? Any other issues at all? If so then I would definately try and have a chat with her or get someone to review things...
If not, and she is just picking as a habit, alot of kids do this and stop eventually. At that age you do develop a bit of a fascination with gorey body bits and functions. I remember actually enjoying picking sunburnt skin, scabs, squeezing blood out too if I'm honest and I don't even remember why I 'sort of enjoyed it' or when I stopped, I just got bored of it I suppose!

I'd compare it to absent mindedly pulling out strands of hair, which I've seen loads of people (even adults) do, it just seems like she's discovered something her body does and likes to fiddle around with it
