My 13 year old dd has a healthy balanced diet and is active. She has had grooves and pitted marks in her nails. Any suggestions?

Has she been ill at all recently? Are the grooves horizontal or vertical? Sometimes when we are ill or very run down, suffered
trauma or other damaging event, horizontal grooves can occur and is the result of any interruption in the protein formation of the nail plate. Anaemia can also cause horizontal ridges. Vertical grooves are normally a sign of dehydration, but can be improved with a vitamin E cream.

I don't think it's anything to worry about though.

I mean dehydration of the nail plate - not in general.

Pitting can be a sign of psoriasis.
As TheChicOfIt says, could be anaemia,

she isn't anaemic and hasn't had any major stree. the ridges are vertical ie going down her nail. she eats and drinks well

My son had this. The nurse took some clippings to see if it was a fungal infection- easily treated.
