What is wrong with my little boy?

He was crying so we went up to check on him and he appeared asleep at first, crying and his bottom was popping. He has had this before but I am getting concerned now. DD has some issues so I am a nervous wreck atm. Once he calmed down a little and had woken up he asked for some milk and then some more. He has settled now. He is 4.

Popping?

Sounds like he has a tummy ache. He'll probably be fine. DD quite often has bad dreams when she has a tummy ache. I'm sure he's fine.

Thanks for the reassurance.

It happens more often than I would like, poor love .

Does it follow any particular foods, I know it sounds daft but DS and DD both get this if they have got a bit constipated and then had bananas. I think there is some sort of percolation going on down there

Normally followed by a megapoo at 8am which stinks the house out.

He did have a banana for tea .

It used to happen only ever when he has been at my MIL and I would put money on her giving him banana milkshake.

He loves banana and cimmamum .

Bananas give me terrible indigestion. Runs in the family actually. Can't eat them.

sounds like trapped wind... it's going to hurt and if his 'bottom is popping' sounds like prob is... try not to give too many wheat/yeast products close to bed time, that can cause trapped wind i find. i get it and it's not nice so i can imagine it's alot worse for a little one... also too much cows milk can cause constipation (not saying he is having too much) but if he does drink alot that could cause it.

could be a night terror. they tend to happen in your deep sleep (first few hours before you dream). They are more common in boys than girls, and happen around this age.

My son used to get them when he was over tired, and then we would have a few nights of them. He would be thrashing around, crying out, but you could't communicate with him as he was not really awake. He never remembered the next day. He's 9 now and rarely gets them.
