DS is 18 weeks old and has picked up a cough and cold which he can't shift. He's coughing to the point that hes wretching and it's waking him up. Apart from calpol/nurofen is there anything he can have or i can do to help him?

Sit in a hot steamy shower room and let him breathe in the warm air.

It's also worth putting a wet, wrung out towel on the radiator in his room (if it's on at this time of year) when he goes to bed. This just humidifies the room, which can help a dry cough.

Hi Newbeginning, haven't tried Olbas Oil but I have used Karvol capsules and/or the Karvol vaporiser which helped a bit - I think they are ok for over 3 months. Some people swear by rubbing karvol or similar on the soles of the feet although I've not tried it myself. And tilting the head of the cot a bit. I really do sympathise, DD had a cough that wouldn't shift for ages but it did eventually go as the weather warmed up.
