manky ear

ds3 woke up yesterday morning with an exploded ear. mank all over the sheet and all over his ear.
cleaned him up and didn't think too much more of it.

the last time one of them had an ear infection the GP diagnosed it over the phone and told me that they don't treat them because they get better by themselves.
so i figured as it had obviously burst and all come out that he'd be on the mend

but today he has had a lot more discharge. I've cleaned it out carefully using warm water and a muslin, but it keeps oozing more.
it seems as though the ear is still producing more mank

so, try and get him seen by a GP tomorrow? or will they just say that if the stuff is coming out that's a good thing?
he seems absolutely fine in himself

Pop him to the GP, it's not just a bit of discharge is it? Does he have a fever?

nope, no fever, nothing. he seems his normal cheerful self tbh, if i hadn't seen his ear i wouldn't have even thouight anything was the matter

is it a bloody discharge?

BelleDeChocolateFluffyBunny · 29/04/2010 22:47

The eustation tube is fairly long, repeated infections like this can damage the ear drum though, I'd pop him to the GP and ask for an ENT referal to be on the safe side.

no blood, just pale slightly opaque creamy colour stuff

will call the GP in the morning. thanks. they always make me feel like i am wasting their time or i'm over-reacting, so now i get scared to call them!!!

That's what they are there for, they get paid to do this, it makes a change from looking at arthritic hands and smelly fanjo's.

How did you get on? Sounds nasty.

GP said just to keep an eye on him. she said the inside of his ear didn't look inflamed at all, and that it all seemed ok in there

still some discharge though, but not as much as yesterday
