DS has a very big rash on one bum cheek, really red, with lots of little red bumps, very hot to the touch and very itchy.

I have put hydrocortisone cream on it but am eorried it might be something serious?

Sounds like he might have sat on a stinging nettle. It should go by morning.

If not, pop to the GP - how old is he - two years and up can take antihistamines.

thank you whomoved!

If it's a stinging nettle, the only time he could have sat on one was on saturday, could it still be red and itchy now?

If the rash is still there in the morning I'll give him an antihistamine and call the gp.

I just get worried bout rashes

Yep - I still have a rash from last Monday !

He's probably scratched it and made it worse as well. Antihistamines are the way to go if it's not getting better.

Rashes btw are just the body's way of dealing with toxins, they are very rarely dangerous or a sign of something serious.

thank you whomoved, you have out my mind at rest!

Most probable explanation in that case is stinging nettles from saturday, he fell down a scree slopecovered in nettles.
