Hello, our dear 2 year old boy hasn't done a number two for 5 days now, despite eating well. He is not showing any signs of deliberately holding one in, but we are in the process of potty training (10 days into it). He has successfully used the potty for number twos so I don't think he's anxious.

Should we be worried?
Should we go to the GP or will s/he laugh at us?

Try warm fresh orange juice, if that doesn't get him going then try GP, 5 days is a long time.

Apparently my other half took him to the GP today and she has prescribed some lactulose

Hows things today Prince?

Has he 'been' yet?

My doc recommended Lactulose as my dd had a problem (some constipation and a little bleeding due to "hard stools") and it is massively effective and useful at getting them moving! (And no problem to use after 2!)

Hi all. It was the usual sod's law story - on the day he went to the GP he did a #2 before he even had time to take his prescription lactulose !

Thanks for all the guidance and ideas though - he often goes 3 days or so before he does a #2 so I will keep on file the ideas, such as warm orange juice !
