Poo troubles in 19 month old!

My Ds is just coming up to 19months old and has suffered from constipation in the past, problem is now he holds his poo in for days as he is too scared to go.

The Gp prescribed lactulose and senna which have been pretty much useless, lots of people have recommended Movicol, so I bought some over the counter to try.
It says not suitable for under 12's but I know 3 people who use it for their little ones, I have no idea what dose to start with.

I really need to get him going again and try and rid him of the fear of going, he's not eating, sleeping, it makes him very sad and lethargic when he hasn't been, I just want to help him!

Can anyone tell me what doseage they use please, TIA.

My dd started witholding at 19 months following pain caused by constipation. This book was very useful indeed if you haven't read it. Most libraries stock it.

I think perhaps you should be using movicol under GP supervision. Probably best that they prescribe and choose dosage?
