Ear Discharge...what is it?

My DS (15 months) has a bit of a cold but is otherwise well. He just had some discharge coming from his ear which looked like...well snot/mucus, and was bright green in colour.
He is prone to ear infections, but his ear looks fine, there is no swelling or redness and he seems well. Does anyone know what this discharge could be?

Definitely an ear infection, my ds has had the same, I think ear infections can present in different ways, my ds has always been well in himself with his ear infections and there was no redness or swelling.

Yes, ear infection. Take him to walk in centre or GP for treatment and no water in it til it's settled.hth

ear infection, burst drum. Doctor might test discharge to see what the bug was but will probably not. Will probably ask to see him again to check has healed properly.
