Probably Worrying needlessly, but DD appears to have Swine Flu symptoms?

DD seven is complaining of a headache, being cold, general aches and pains, a headache shes not hungry at all and has a horrible cold. Shes very red round her eyes and says it hurts when blinks.
Please let me know if I'm being a bit of an other anxious mother here as google seems to be unable to tell me its anything but Swine Flu! I thought that was all over now?

When she says it hurts when she blinks does she have light sensitivity do you think?

What's her temp?

i would get her checked out about the painful eyes asap.

meningitis can feature sore throat/flu like symptoms.

Tempratures normal she seems fine in herself, she does seem to have light sensativity though as she is complaining that the lights hurting her eyes.

DD2 had swine flu with identical symptoms to those. I agree with the others though, get her checked ASAP to rule out meningitis.

Out of hours doctor (your surgery will have answering machine with the number on)
or NHS direct and mention the light sensitivity

OR A&E if you are fobbed off. These symptoms are red flags for meningitis and she needs seeing RIGHT now because it can develop very fast.

Swine flu has not gone away, but it's nothing to panic about, either. It's just the current main strain of flu - most people get over it fine.

Meningitis, on the other hand, needs to be worried about - and with the light sensitivity and other symptoms I would be getting your dd checked out ASAP - hope that's what you're doing.

Don't want to worry you but could it be measles? Does she have little White spots inside her mouth? You can read about symptoms here

Eep, completely forgot about you all! DD is now fine. We had an ambulance out to her and although she did by this point have a fever of 40.1 they felt she was best off resting in bed with calpol. She didn't eat for 4 days but now seems a lot better. Thank you all so much for your support! We still however have no idea what was wrong with her!
