17 month old waking up screaming same time every night- help!

My daughter is 17 months and has had quite a bit of trouble with teething - we thought that this might be the reason why recently she has been waking up at 1am and screaming. However, this screaming is now happening every single night at exactly the same time give or take 10 minutes. When we go in to her, she is very distressed but doesn't have any of the teething signs - no red cheeks, dribbling etc which she has had before.

Could she be having night terrors? I have heard about how frightening these are - but not sure if this is what she is experiencing. It is just a bit strange about the timings.

Does anyone have any experience of this?

My dd did this at the same age. Same time every night. It was night terrors.

We found rousing her very slightly beforehand broke the sleep cycle and it stopped happening.

Is she cold at all? I've been waking up cold at about 1am recently. Seems warmish going to bed but still frosty overnight.

Just thinking out loud really.

That's really interesting about the night terrors. we might try that tonight, perhap waking her at 12.45am or something. i know what you mean about the cold but we have a radiator ticking over in her room to keep the frosty nights at bay!

You don't have to wake her completely, just rouse her a little bit to re-start the sleep cycle. See if it helps.

If they are night terrors be assured that while distressing to witness, they generally don't remember them and aren't affected by them.

They are usually distinctive as occuring at the same time every night, high distress, inability to be comforted, seeming unaware of things around them etc.
