dd has had a bad bout of gastroentiritis last in almost 2 weeks. She has just returned from a 2 day hospital stint following bowel problems, with the thought that she might be suffering from bowel obstruction.
All is fine, and dd is weak, but back to normal. The paediatrician told us that we can come straight back into hospital if we are at all worried in the next 3 days.
dd has just had her first, relatively solid poo, but it was a very pale beige colour.
Googling this indicates that this might be a problem with the liver? But I do seem to remember her having pale stools before when she was unwell as a tiny baby and the doc seemed unconcerned.
Is pale stools always a sign that something is wrong?
Should I contact or go back to the hospital over this (dd is otherwise recovering well)?
If one pale stool is nothing to worry about, at what stage should I worry? After 3 days of pale poos? 3 weeks?
Am reluctant to phone to hospital so soon after our discharge unless necessary. We were given comprehensive information about dd's health and what to look out for. It didn't include the colour of her poo
