Hello. DD has started puberty and has breast buds. This morning she has woken up with a sore breast on one side. This has now become hot, slightly red and slightly swollen and very painful..Does anyone have any idea what his could mean? Could it be infected and if so could it wait till tues or should I take her to get it looked at tomorrow? I will of course reassess tomorrow but I am quite worried and would be really grateful if anyone has any ideas or experience. I have given her ibuprofen.

Get it looked at tomorrow definately. Is there any discharge? I had breast abscesses as a young teenager and they started like this.

Thank you peggotty. I dont think there is any discharge, should I look out for this. If it is an abscess what will they do?

It depends what stage it is at (if that's what it is), I had to have 2 lanced but had antibiotics for another which stopped it developing to the lancing stage. If there is any discharge it will be visible staining on her bra/vest. I hope you dd is feeling better soon poor thing.

Thankyou peggotty. She has just gone to bed but can't lay on her front bless her. If it is no better tomorrow I will get it checked. Why oh why is it always on a bank holiday when these things happen.

I thought I would post to say what happened in case it helps someone else. We went to doctors today and it turns out it is infected and we have a weeks worth of penicillin. She said she could feel fluid but hopefully we have caught it in time.

Hi Meg, hopefully the penicillin will do the trick! Was wondering how you got on.
