tongue bite

Our 12 month old son has fallen backwards (while sitting on the floor) and bitten his tongue. The bite doesn't go through his tongue, but it's certainly a deep cut. It stopped actively bleeding after 5 minutes (but is still an impressive-looking cut when he sticks his tongue out!) We're waiting for NHS direct to get back to us, but I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with this? From the size of it, it looks as if his two front top teeth sunk into the tongue..

He's napping now. poor little guy.

ouch. I hope he is feeling better.

I take it by now NHS 24 would have contacted you with advice.

I don't imagine there would be much intervention from medics and that it will heal naturally. I would offer cool water/juice drinks and pain killers regularly
