Urticaria and swimming

DD (3) came out last week in fast spreading rash that doctor diagnosed as uticaria probably as a reaction to a virus she had had. No known allergies. She has been having piriton since which has some effect. Sometimes it looks really bad others not so much. Question is she is due to start swimming lessons tomorrow, do we take her? doctor says it's not infectious so no problem. Just wondered if anyone else had experience of this? Don't want to make it worse but also am concerned what the other parents might think. Any advice would be gratefully received!

I myself had uticaria a few months ago as a reaction to some medication I was on. It isn't infectious and the pool water didn't hurt it. I had a good shower after and put lots of moisturiser on to stop my skin drying out and making the itchiness worse.

I had urticaria for years as a teen. It was torture as I was really sporty and most sports aggrivated it. Mine was pretty bad, all over my legs arms and face. Swimming was the only exercise which didn't affect it tbh. I never found any medication that helped only thing that worked for me was to sit down and drink ice cold water. Sounds mad but it did take the 'fire' out of it for me. Hope your DD gets rid of it soon

Thanks both. She really wants to go so think I will take her then. Her legs aren't too bad this a.m but arms are. Just hope no-one says anything!
