Does this vomiting bug bring on a rash?

6 yo DD has been up since 3:30 this morning being sick, it's easing off now but she is still jumping up to be sick. However, in the last half an hour or so, she seems to have developed a non-raised red rash around her cheeks, eyes and chin. It's worse on her cheeks. She hasn't got it anywhere else (have checked, double checked and triple checked) so I was wondering if it could be related to the wretching she is doing?

She hasn't got a temp, isn't complaining of pain anywhere and can move her head/neck as usual with no complaints.

My dd had a rash starting at her hands and feet and going up as far as her knees and ankles - but it was gone the next day. It also didn't start until after she stopped being sick. Very odd indeed.

Hope you dd feels better soon - mine is much older than yours but was back at school after 3 days.

With my two and my husband and I it was vomiting, diarrhoea and aches and pains - no rash. Do the old glass press test to be on the safe side. Sure you have. Hope all better soon.

You can get a rash that looks pretty similar to a meningitis rash around your eyes from the pressure of vomiting and retching.

Agree with lula. Its caused by increased pressure in the tiny blood vessels round the face from retching. They burst on the surface - that is why they are non blanching. They'll fade in time

DS1 had this rash last week but not vomiting but a severe cough.

Thank you wide Mumsnetters as it was really bugging me what this rash was.
