chicken poxs

hi, just after some advice. my 5 year old has chicken poxs with the first spots appearing saturday. i would say he has is quite bad. what is concerning me is that he is crying out complaining that his tummy hurts! is this usual as when my other child had it other then the spots u would never of known he had it! i am giving him regular paracetamol and nurofen as well as piriton but he still complaining. any advice please? thanks

My hunch is that you just need to wait and monitor -- I strongly suspect that he's fine, just feeling very grizzly in his entire body.

You can always ring NHS Direct to get advice, that's what they're for!

Is his tummy swolen at all? My son got a secondary skin infection because his spots went black and were the size of a 1p piece. If you are in any doubt, take him to see a doctor. I don't want to alarm you.....this was extreemly rare condition.
