10 month old with sickness and diarrhea

sorry its probably done before recently but anyway,
my 4 year old has just had sickness and diarrhea for the past week which seems to be stopping now. My 10 month old has been really tantrummy and miserable the past couple of days and has now just thrown up yelllow bile by the looks of it just after he fell asleep soon after waking (unusual for him as he usually fights sleep!)
what should i be doing for him?try him with food or just fluids?he is a little warm. i suppose it might not even be anything at all but i just panic when he's ill as he's so young

My ten month old has just come down with a tummy bug too (although no yellow bile) just exorcist style vomiting fluids only for the next few days. We're giving rehydration salts and breast milk. Although my sil was told cordial or flat pop will do just as well. Gave calprofen for the temperature and monitored it.
Be careful about dehydration signs are;
dry nappies for 8 hours or more,
sunken soft spot,
dry mouth/lips,
no tears when crying.

If at any point baby is unresponsive then to A&E you must go.

If there is anything you're not sure about call your GP. Better safe (and feeling neurotic) than sorry.

oh thank you, i stopped breastfeeding about 4 weeks ago,really wish i hadn't now!
i tried him with a tiny bit of weetabix but i'll go to the chemist now and get rehydration salts just in case and some baby milk

Exorcist-style vomiting here too this morning with 10 month old. This is round 3 of a bug that has gone round (and around) all 4 of my children for the last 3 weeks. Sticking just to fluids, after a 'weetabix experiment' this morning . Even after 4, I've never really grasped what to do for the best when they vomit (when to offer food etc) - will be sticking to fluids for now.. Good luck!

SOAPBOX though I know I shouldn't. It is hard knowing when to reintroduce foods though isn't it? Think I'll stick to babyjuice today, then maybe offer some bits of bread/porridge tomorrow (before going out with dd3 to princess show, hence leaving dh to deal with the aftermath)

DS had this a month ago when he was 9 months. Try dioralyte tablets in water to rehydrate him. If he won't take it, try Gatorade sports drink to rehydrate (which has electrolytes and carbs and no chemicals and is flat not fizzy - healthier than Lucozade). DS loved the Gatorade. Formula milk is hard to digest and just made him throw up more, so had to keep him off the formula (breast milk fine though if you BF). I was told to keep him off solids until he keeps down the Gatorade, then try fruit purees and a bit of carbs (not cereal if mixed with milk, but toast and rice and stuff). Took about 5 days before he could have formula again without throwing it back up.

i did try him with weetabix, no poo explosion so far! he is tired and has a temp though poor little fella, i sooo wish i was still bfeeding but have got him some follow on milk as i'm not sure if cows milk is a good idea at the mo and he wont drink much plain water. Nver would have thought to try gatorade, not sure where sells it though.
Its good to know i'm not alone, at least I only have 2 children so only have to go through 2 rounds of vomit and diarrhea fun. Unless i get it myself of course.....

any shop like tesco or sainsbury etc should have gatorade or lucozade (sports version only). Otherwise try to get dioralyte at the chemist and dissolve in cool boiled water. GP told me to keep him off formula and milk while his tummy is upset. Also you can give him calpol for the fever, will not upset his tummy. Good luck.
