white mark like paint on babys bottom

hi,not been on mumsnet for ages but really need advice please. my 10 month old had red lump on bottom today,after taking nappy off hour later he has white mark that looks like paint on his bottom where red lump was.wont wpe off and he screams when its touched.took hm to nurse and she had no idea what it was so made an appointment for doc in morning as clinic closing when i got there.doesnt look like thrush and nurse didnt seem to thin it was.please any ideas?? thank you

DD had this and we always treated it like nappy rash (whether it was or not I don't know) but we tried to keep her bum dry and gave her lots of fresh air time - hard I know cos they keep rolling around but it is worth it! Try giving him nappy-free time and see if that helps

ds had this as a baby and the mark has never gone. No idea what it was but assumed, like you, that it was a type of nappy rash

thanks for answers,its cleared a little today but very red still,just tiny white bit left,prob was nappy rash then.thans again x
