Depends how old he is. DS (20 months) had something very similar - had it for a good two weeks. He's given it to me too

There's not a lot they can do unless it develops into a secondary bacterial infection, the virus itself will go. It'll just take a while. Using pillow or bricks under one end of the bed to elevate his head may help him sleep. We're using Olbas oil in burners as well.

Don't hold back on the painkillers either, I've had a shocking headache with this virus and I know DS has too as he's been holding his head stiffly.

If he is going down hill, then yes I'd go and see them (esp as its friday) if he seems to be holding his own then I'd wait and see if he is ok over the weekend. If he is very little though, go and get him seen.

Definatly go back and get him checked Ds2 saw a doctor 3 times when he was 3 weeks before he got admitted to hospital with bronchiolitis x x

mummynumnum · 19/03/2010 07:43

Think I will. Temp just was 37.6. Have daughter who had febrile convulsions so really paranoid about that sort of thing.

Really noticng back moving up and down when breathing. Really want gp to open. Verging on paranoia

Hospital told me in a baby so young to look out for head bobbing when breathing and nostrils flaring x x
If you get really worried take him to a&e.
Really hope he gets better soon

Dh not v good at coping with crying. Breathing ok. Jut given some gripe water and seems to have settled. Wants breast but then fussing and crying. Been q happy all day and then distress built up at end of day. Feeling useless.

Better in night. Co-slept. Coughing but less sick. Gripe seems to have helped. Wondering if reflux. Is infacol better than gripe?
