her brother (DS2) is sick. He is nearly 5 she is nearly 2 and were in the bath together last night. My DH was supposed to be supervising ... Since I picked him up from school this afternoon he has not been well and basically didn't eat dinner and went to bed at 6pm. He has a fever - though not too high. I have given him some ibuprofen to try to make him comfortable. I didn't see it, but DH says he put his head underwater right after the unthinkable had occured. I have googled, but it mostly talks about food poisoning and says fever is a rare symptom. He hasn't gone to the toilet since I brought him home. Any advice, or experience would be gratefully received. TIA, Sim

His fever would have nothing to do with a poo floating in the bath.

his being ill will have nothing to do with a poo flosting in the water

I think it is a coincidence - this sounds viral to me and nothing whatever to do with the poo

nickschick · 15/03/2010 08:01

Its entirely a coincidence.

Dont worry.

I don't think the poo will have anything to do with it. Unless he left it in there and it broke up but then it would be very diluted anyway, especially as he dunked himself straight afterwards.

I Would see your GP anyway but honestly, don't worry about the poo, all kids do it at some point.

Coincidentally, my dd2 had code brown in the bath then was spectacularly wiped out with fever sickness and diarrhoea for the next week. Week! Never had that long an illness in my house before. Suddenly went as soon as it came and now left with just the one explosion a day and the green rivers of love smeared on our shoulders.
I asked the doctor if it could be related and he looked down his spectacles in the way you would at something that eats earth. 'Pfff', he went. Reassured me regardless. Don't worry - there seems to be something nasty abounding.
