Ventolin and runny poops...

DS has had a cough since Jan along with various chest/ear/throat infections and on Thursday our GP prescribed Ventolin to see if that would help clear the cough (and also he said DS was wheezy). He woke on Friday with a very watery nappy which went everywhere and the same again this morning. He normally has 2-3 poops a day and each one over the past 2 days have been really loose. Could this be the Ventolin? He is his usual rough and tumble self and is having wet nappies inbetween. So I was just wondering if this was an unusual side effect.

i've never heard of ventolin causing this side effect. has he had antibiotics recently they can upset your digetive system for a while.

He was until about 2 weeks ago and his poops weren't affected by them then. It's weird. I'll ring the Dr's tomorrow and see what they say about it. Thank you both for replying

I think it is a bit, he's not been sick through coughing during the night and has been waking up less and his nose has dried up but still has a rough cough. There is also a cold steam humidifier in his room too. But it's early days yet so I'm not expecting it to cure/ease all immediately.

Yes, through the spacer. I have to count in a silly voice for him to stay still whilst I use it. The cough just does not want to seem to budge!

My DS had terrible runny poops when he had ventolin. the GP didn't seem to think it was a known side effect, but it definitely seemed a bit of a coincidence.

I was speaking to one of the girls at work about it and one of her DC's had the Eartha Kitts with it too.

I'm due to go back next Thursday anyway to give the Dr an update. Does it sound like Asthma? He still ha a runny nose too!!
