Here is what I wrote yesterday (thought DS had chickenpox) -
"DS (1) has a rash around his mouth that I thought might be impetigo - red spots with white centres. He also has mild eczema that's just started to appear on his arms and legs - but he has odd little pinpricky spots all over, mostly on the eczema but elsewhere as well. He also has blisters on his fingers but I think that has been caused by him chewing on them (he has been doing it a lot this week - bloody teething). I took him to the GP this morning, he got his colleague to give a second opinion and they don't think it is impetigo but it could be a mild form. They both mentioned chickenpox as a vague possiblity but seemed doubtful.
Anyway,
I've been sent home with a vat of paraffin cream and instructions to observe and come back/telephone if anything changes or if I'm worried - I dropped into nursery on the way home to discuss and they mentioned there has been a case of chicken pox confirmed in the baby room. Does anyone think this is what it sounds like? Apparently the baby who has it has had it very mildly so that could be what it is. How will I tell?? (he is my first so new to this!!"
He now has one suspicious looking spot on his leg, his mouth is a little better. But his back (mainly shoulders and sides) is covered in a fine rash that looks a bit like heat rash. He doesn't have a temp and seems fine in himself. I am stumped. Any ideas?
