Experiences of eye patches?

My DD started wearing glasses in nov for long-sightedness. She also has a lazy eye which was not responding to the glasses so she now has to wear a patch. We are not getting on brilliantly with the stick on patches given to us by the orthoptist as they irritate her skin so we are putting them on her glasses instead but she keeps cheating and peeking under or over the top! I have ordered a cloth patch which I am hoping will make things easier.

I would love to hear from people who have been through the whole patching process and had a good result. I am a bit down about it at the moment as DD really struggles to see much at all when her good eye is covered so it is quite tough. Her prescription is +3.50 in her right eye and +6.50 in her left (lazy) eye.

Thanks.

Pammy.

Thanks for those links NumberOne - some of the last one you referred to seems to be missing but there is still some useful info there.
