Conjunctivitis or something else?

Help! 2 year old daughter has very swollen eyes with a yellow discharge, and a red rash just wider than her eye running down her face to just below her nose (worse one side than the other). She's had a cold for a couple of days. Is this normal conjunctivitis or could it be something else? Had a nightmare getting her in to see a doctor

At nursery a child had an eye infection (not conjunctivitus that consisted of a red rash near his eyes, and under his nose. The doc prescribed a cream for it.

However the yellow discharge does sound like conjunctivtis

DD's rash is very smooth and red (looks like she's just been slapped), does that sound similar?
