conjunctivitis, what to do?

ds1 complaining of "weird" eyes. on closer inspection very weepy and red looking.
i overheard one of the other mums in playground talking about conjunctivitis, so seems fairly likely that's what it is.

do i need to keep him off school in case he spreads it?
and how to treat? do i need to see the gp or is it just a case of rinsing with water?

You can buy antibiotic eye drops over the counter from a chemist

Breastmilk is supposed to be good too, but a bit harder to get hold of unless you happen to be breastfeeding atm

I would clean with cooled boiled water and then use the drops from the chemist if they are still red and gummy after a couple of days.

Does the school have a policy on such things? Might be worth giving them a ring in the morning.

I was going to offer some of mine, I seem to have plenty atm

Glad to hear it isn't necessary

You might do well not to tell ds1 what it is though if you do go down that route.. I can only imagine dd1's reaction if I tried to put bm in her eyes...
