children's braces

My 9 year old dd has been told that she would benefit from wearing braces as her teeth are slightly protruding.
Our dentist told us that she will have to have silver 'train tracks' which she is not so keen on. Does anyone know anything about the 'invisible braces' that you can pay for privately? Are they as effective and how much are they likley to cost?
