Is there some sort of tummy/fluey bug going around?

DS has had a cough for over 2 weeks and a cold for 3 .
About a week ago the cough got really bad so I took him to GP - they said it was a virus, that his tonsils looked large and just to persevere. Also got some medicine to ease the cough. But for the past 5-6 days he has been really off his food. He will eat a little bit, but not really keen. For the past two days he has been vomiting up small amounts after he eats, and also been refusing milk.

Apart from this he is perfectly fine in himself, playing and laughing and running about. He is 19 months old.

I only ask about the bug, as about a week ago I got a really sore throat for about a day, then I went right off food, felt a bit sick and had a touch of diarrhoea. I still have a bit of a sore throat/mild stuffy nose but so mild I only notice it in the morning. I'm sure my mum said she had the same.

Is there such a thing as a cold + tummy bug?
And any ideas on how to treat this?

My partner's youngest has been bad with the stomach for over a week and the eldest has been bad too. Not sure what's going on with them though.

Thanks confuddled.

It just seems like DS has been ill with one thing or another for weeks. It's getting a bit tiring and I was just wondering if there is some nasty bug about.

I might try not feeding him tomorrow and see if that helps.

Obviously I'll give him plenty to drink though!

We've had various combinations of cough/snot/runs amongst the four of us over the past 4 weeks. I assumed it was cold bugs and tummy bugs and there's not much you can do other than to treat the symptoms - fluids, paracetamol etc.

there are 2 bugs doing the rounds here at the mo

  • one headache and aching limbs
  • the other D and V

Prob a combo/back to back. Hope better soon.

Yes I am pretty sure it is a back to back thing.

He seemed to be right at the end of a cold, then went to nursery and came back with a cough, which has now led on to this sicky/off food thing.

Just makes it so difficult to do anything - he was at nursery again today so no doubt he'll have picked up something else.

Ho hum.

Only place worse for picking up stuff is the swimming pool.....
