ds getting swine flu vaccination tomorrrow

hi i have an appointment tomorrow morning at 10 past to have my ds vaccinated against swine flu but i'm sarting to get really worried about it. Can anyone put my mind at rest over this. Tomorrow is the last clinic for this so i have to be sure about whether to have it done or not.

All I can say is both DS and myself have had it done and been absolutely fine. I still think the potential risks for a young child getting swine flu are much much greater than the theoretical risks of the vaccine. But that's only my own pov - I'm not sure you're mind will be truly at rest until you've made whatever decision your gut instinct is telling you.

thanks for that, i feel like he should get it but i suffer from health anxiety and always imagine the worst.

I can only speak from personal experience, but my husband and 12 year-old daughter have both had the vaccine as they're asthmatic and they were fine. My daughter had a sore arm for a day or two, which is apparently a common side effect (she's had a sore arm after flu jabs before, but this one was a little worse).

hhi, i took ds up for his jab but it turned out he had a temperature so could'nt have it done. I talked through my worries with the nurse and she was very reassuring.We have another appointment in 2 weeks. My grandson had his done today and so far he has been fine.

Both my DCs have had it (dd nearly 3 and ds 9 months), both have been, completely fine. Ds had a slight reaction on the injection sight about a week later, but it didn't seem to bother him at all

The chances of your DS catching it are very slim now and tbh he's probably come into contact with it already at some stage and has maybe not shown any symptoms...I think it's estimated that only 1 in 5 people will actually show symptoms. Even then, it is a very mild illness for the majority. It has just been hyped up by the media.

DD (aged1) had it a few weeks ago and DS (aged 4) had the other swine flu vacc(sorry can't remember names) as he has an egg allergy and the standard one contains egg. He had to have 2 shots 2 weeks apart. Both DCs were fine.
