DD, 6, is having a small birthday party in school tomorrow, and her hair's a bit patchy due to chemo. Has anyone had experience with this, how would you cover it up, apart from putting on a baseball cap or hat. Her hats have all become too tight after she put on weight due to steroids, and she is keen to wear a princess tiara. yes, very complicated! sigh. help! tia

a pretty scarf?

CMOTdibbler · 22/02/2010 09:08

Is she worried by her hair ? If not, I'd find the sparkliest tiara possible, then stitch it onto a wide head band so that it doesn't scratch her head.

Alternative is to get a long pink/white sparkly scarf from Claires, and look on youtube for a fun way to tie it, add some sparkly clips and put the tiara over that. Or make a tall princess hat, cover in glitter, and staple a scarf to it to hold it on like those drapy bits you get on them (can't explain that properly)

princess hat?

My nephew wore some pretty funky bandanas. I bet Claires do great ones.

Good luck with the chemo and the party.

Or if its just patchy french plaits should disguise the patches. Curling straight hair makes it appear thicker.

Could you maybe stitch a thin floatly piece of material onto a tiara and wear it like a wedding veil (vaguely like this ) if it was pink i think it could look more princess than bride

Hi, I know this is too late for the party (glad she enjoyed it ).

We found the best coverups were the bandanas with the braids attached. They come in loads of colours and are not heavy and itchy like the wigs. They look real too.

Top shop do them but I am sure you can get them in lots of places.

thank you chegirls
