Can you make up your own saline solution at home for oozing eyes

Posted a little earlier re. DD2 having suspected conjunctivitus and whether a chemist would help me or whether I needed to try and get a GP appointment.

Am not going to be able to get to chemist and/or doctor until tomorrow morning. Someone suggested saline solution for eyes but is that something you can do at home or is it something that you have to buy from chemists in order to ensure it's sterile/correctly made up?

TIA.

according to this site - 1 cup boiled cooled water to 5 ml salt www.health24.com/medical/Condition_centres/777-792-810-1697,23004.asp]]
Good to know I didn't totally make it up

Thank you! Is 5ml salt a teaspoon?

Noticed that somehow I've managed to create 2 threads on this - not sure how - oops.

Snowstorm · 21/02/2010 19:12

DON'T USE THIS THREAD - PLEASE USE THE OTHER ONE WITH THE SAME NAME THAT'S RUNNING.

Sorry - somehow created two threads with the same name, don't know how it happened, has never happened to me before.

But PLEASE USE THE OTHER ONE.

Very many thanks.

Snowstorm.
