Hi, my daughter has a suspected urinary infection, she's on anti-biotics. She had her first dose tonight. We couldn't get a sample of urine as she is wetting herself in tiny dribbles every few minutes.
I was wondering, appart from the anti-biotics is there anything we can give her to help?
She's having calpol every 4 hours, but I wondered wether cranberrie juce would be good?
Also, do you know how long it'll take for the anti-biotics to work and for her to feel better? It's awful seing her in such pain every time she wees.
Oh and if you have any idea how we can collect some urine from her, then please let me know.

leave her pants/nappy off and run around after her with a potty or one of those plastic tubs you get with pasta sauce inside (clean though) and catch some. They don't need alot. Plenty of water will flush the kidneys out and stop the bacteria from spreading. The antibiotics normally work quite quickly, in a day or two. Poor mite.

Thank you, I'll try that. When she wees, she tends to do so with her legs firmly crossed (trying to stop herself from weeing), so it's a bit tricky but we'll get there eventually.
I'm glad the anti- biotics work so fast.

I hope she's feeling better soon. Once you get a sample then run her a bath and see if she'll wee in the water, not ladylike but it helps with the stinging.

Thank you, I'll try that.

Can you get stick-on sample bags in larger sizes ? Lots of clear fluids.

I would recommend cranberry. My DD used to suffer alot with cystitis and found it very very effective. I used to get the cartons and water it down a bit.
