kids swallowing prescribed tablets

Can anyone offer me some advice? I have a 10 year old DS who has been prescribed Concerta for ADHD but is unable to swallow the tablets. He has to swallow them whole as they are a time release drug. He only has to take one and they are about the size of a Tic Tac - we've been practising with these. I've tried putting them in jam, yoghurt etc but he's just not swallowing the tablet (tictac). Don't know what to do next. We're waiting for our GP to get back to us re what to do.

My ds (7) has just finished some tablets he was on for 6 months. It was difficult to start with, I used to get him to chew a mouthful of food (something stodgy like bread) then stick the tablet in his mouth just before he swallowed. Then he had a drink. That sounds like I was pining him down, but he was happy with this!!

Within a couple of weeks he could take them with water, and by the end he could just swallow them.

HTH
