oh poor them get some ice pops and give fluids that way as they dissolve slower and dont cause the stomach to heave it back up

hope they feel well soon x

milkandcookies · 16/02/2010 09:14

Wouldn't icepops make them feel worse with this weather, (dumb moment lol)

oh no, there's so much of this going around, dd2 had it last week and ended up with scarlet fever on top of the sickness (lasted 5 days), dd1 and i came down with it on Sat night, i was just ill for 24 hours, dd1 was ill for 48 hours but now on the mend.

Hope they feel better soon and manage to get few healthy days before they go back to school.

Marne · 16/02/2010 09:16

Get some dyralyte (sp) from the GP, i had to stay up for a night giving sips to dd2 to rehydrate her , how old are they?

GP told me to crush up orange lollies and give them a little at a time.

bubblagirl · 16/02/2010 09:17

no ice pops is recommended by gp's when children vomit up everything its the heaviness of the water when drinking makes you regurgitate yet ice pops dissolve slower so fluids go in with no heaviness to stomach

it makes no difference ice pop or cold juices its the dissolving and getting fluids into system that they are wonderful for

milkandcookies · 16/02/2010 09:18

dd1 has lost so much weight since saturday, she is only small anyway, 6yrs and only 15 kilo, she looks about 14 kilo now

Thank you both for your replies

also boots do great vitamin called tonic to give to children during and after illness giving all the relevant vits that are lost through illness not 100% but i think dioralyte is only given with diarrhoea but you can ask gp mine said no as only sickness some gp's may give it though

Marne · 16/02/2010 09:22

Its horrid when they are so skinny, dd1 was like a twig before she was ill (only took her to the GP last week because she's so under weight), dd1 is 6 and still wears age 3-4 clothes , luckily her sister is chunky and has recovered fully. This is the first day dd1 has started to eat things (other than toast) so now i can start to fatten her up again.

LedodgyChristmasjumper · 16/02/2010 09:24

You have my sympathy. We arein the same boat ds1 started puking on saturday and dd and ds2 started last night. I feel so sorry for them as they all had chicken pox over the Christmas holidays too!

Marne · 16/02/2010 09:26

We were given dioralyte for just sickness.

We give dd1 Minidex Tonic from boots as she tends to get low in iron.

Hopefully they will recover in a day or so, i felt like death on Sat night but after 24 hours most of my symptoms were gone (apart from feeling tired), the worse part was the stomach pain which felt as bad as labour pains.

milkandcookies · 16/02/2010 09:29

Marne- Dd1 6 years Dd2 2 and half years
Ds 4 and half years, he only threw up twice, he is fine now, just the girls,

We had a letter from school about chicken pox last week,

OP posts:
Marne · 16/02/2010 09:32

Same age as both my dd's (well dd2 almost 4). Dh is the only one in our house who hasn't come down with it.

Mine havn't had chicken pox yet so just a matter of time.

milkandcookies · 16/02/2010 09:41

i'm dreading them having chicken pox, I had it 4 times when I was a kid,

Well, I'd better get them ready now for the doctors, take care,

OP posts:
Marne · 16/02/2010 10:23

Good luck at the doctors xxx

Marne · 16/02/2010 14:24

How did it go at the GP's?

milkandcookies · 16/02/2010 15:32

hiya,it's just that virus that's going round, she said the bug should be gone by the end of the week she has lost one kilo tho

OP posts:
Marne · 16/02/2010 16:43

Hope she feels better soon, dd1 has picked up a little today but is now stopped eating again , i'm too scared to put her on the scales as she will be upset if she's lost weight.

It is a nasty virus, quite a few people have got it, my friend and her little girl have just come down with it.

milkandcookies · 17/02/2010 09:18

Yeh it is nasty and so contegious (not sure if spelt that right.

What area are you from?

OP posts:
Marne · 17/02/2010 11:34

We are in the SW, most of the children at dd's school have had it or have it (very small school).

How are things today?

Dd1 didn't eat yesterday but today is bouncing around asking for food and has already eaten 2 slices of toast, 4 biscuits a packet of sweets and some crisps .

milkandcookies · 17/02/2010 17:27

wow :O thats great.

These are both fine today aswell, DD1 is back to her bossy self lol.

OP posts:
Marne · 17/02/2010 17:43

Glad they are feeling better, they seem to recover almost as fast as they come down with it.

milkandcookies · 17/02/2010 22:57

DD2 is up again throwing up, she was fine earlier seems to have come back.

OP posts:
LedodgyChristmasjumper · 18/02/2010 10:29

My older two are better now but ds2 and I can't seem to shake it off, i've got a banging headache today and feel like i'm going to be sick again and ds2 puked again last night and then got the runs. This is horrendous isn't it? The pains as well OMG they are like contractions On Tuesday night I was seriously counting back the months to see if there was any way I could possibly be in labour and have not realised I was up the duff!

milkandcookies · 20/02/2010 22:51

Finally the sickness bug has gone. DC are all better, shame they missed out on half term fun
Wonder what they will bring home next week?
