How can I tell when I look into DDs throat if tonsils are infected - what am I looking for?

She has always had "enlarged" tonsils apparently so I can see them v clearly but are pinkish. Sounds silly as I thought it would be obvious but what exactly am I looking for to show they are infected..?

TIA

White flecks on the tonsils.

Yes, white flecks. It's very obvious if it's there, you just can't miss it.
