Hi - can anyone recommend a great nappy rash cream? I've been using Sudocrem but not sure it is doing much now. Poor little girl has sore bottom from 2 weeks of diarhorrea, think it is teething. thanks

Metanium, bright yellow very waxy but by jingo it works

DrivenToDistraction · 12/02/2010 12:59

Yup, Metanium. No doubt about it.

cocolepew · 12/02/2010 13:00

What Cyb said, it's like cement.

rubyslippers · 12/02/2010 13:00

another vote for metanium

it stains terribly (clothes) so be careful

you only need a bit as well

also, as much nappy off time as you can manage

Bicnod · 12/02/2010 13:01

Another vote for metanium here - cleared up DS's sorely bum in no time

Bicnod · 12/02/2010 13:02

xposts ruby - also just to say make sure LO's bottom is completely dry before slapping it on as otherwise it doesn't work

liamsdaddy · 12/02/2010 13:02

we use Bepanthen

paddypoopants · 12/02/2010 13:02

Metanium - great stuff. A tube lasts years as you spread it so thinly.

Cyb · 12/02/2010 13:03

Yep we have a tube entering its 7th year

Lubyloo · 12/02/2010 13:06

Metanium but it stains badly so be careful putting it on.

Montifer · 12/02/2010 23:06

Sorry for hijack but please can I ask whilst the subject's here:
Is Metanium a barrier cream or to be used to treat sore, broken skin (or both)?

DS has come home from nursery 2 weeks running with really sore broken skin on his bum, presumably from not having dirty nappy changed quickly enough

He really cried when I washed him with warm water and applying Sudocrem caused more upset.

Will Metanium be more soothing and help it heal more quickly than Sudocrem / Bepanthen?

TIA

Drapolene - cures overnight for us

Metanium seems to be a barrier (same as sudo). Drapolene seems to be absorbed for us - more like Bepanthen but with an antiseptic element.

Montifer · 12/02/2010 23:13

Thanks JetLi, will get some Drapolene, I find Sudocrem is a good enough barrier usually, but he seems so sore think he needs something more soothing.

Also don't fancy staining my washable nappies yellow unless nothing is as good as Metanium
