My 3 year old DD has got 3 of these on her eyes. When i went to the docs and got her referral form she only had one, now another 2 have come up and getting bigger by the day. Still not had app, today rung up hosp direct and got 13th April app, ages away and thats just so they can look at them not actually do anything, grrrrrrrrrrr!

go to optician ans see if he can tell if they are affecting the shape of the lens on the eye. Mine was affecting my vision slightly. If you have a good optician ask him to send a letter to you gp to get them sorted urgently as they can compress the lens if they are large.

Has gp given you any chloramphenicol or fucithalmic anti biotic eye drops to see if they will help?

The other thing to do is to use johnson baby shampoo diluted 1:4 with water and use in warm ( previously boiled water) and try and hold the heated cotton wool over the cyst. Sometimes it help to unblock the blocked grease gland.

My mum had one of these and she did the holding cotton wool that had been dipped in warm water on it that alypaly suggests and it did eventually go without any further intervention and left no scar.

it works for some..but i had to have mine lanced under local anaesthetic as it wouldnt unblock. I only had it 3 months but it pressed on my lens and it was really sore at times.

go and ask if you can have the chloramphenicol drops because if you get them early, sometimes they work.

alypaly · 10/02/2010 18:55

either that or buy them if he is being awkward.

But check with doc or pharmacist first
