My dd is a happy healthy child, she eats well, loves her veggies etc and hasnt ever had a serious illness. 2 days ago her cousin visited, he had a slight cold and yesterday DD developed a high fever, chills and runny nose. I thought it just a cold or maybe flu, but since last night she hasnt eaten anyting, hardly drank anything and when she does have a drink, the minute she swallows she starts screaming and doesnt want to drink anymore. She wants to eat but puts the food in her mouth, chews and spits it out and cries. Does this sound like tonsilitis?? what an i do to ease the pain as its heartbreaking when she cries and she hasnt played all day. I gave her calpol and tixylix for the runny nose.

The GP will be able to tell you but if you want to have a check yourself before you go, look in her mouth and see if they look red or even green/yellow spotted. If the latter go to GP hastily.

I wouldn't use tixylix as the nose runs to get rid of nasties and that is a good thing. Just dab on barrier cream to avoid soreness.
